On 9 June 2019, the name of the laureate of this year’s Wisława Szymborska Award was announced at the presentation gala held at the ICE Congress Centre in Krakow during the Miłosz Festival.

The nominees were:
Kamila Janiak for the book Wiersze przeciwko ludzkości (Wojewódzka Biblioteka Publiczna, Centrum Animacji Kultury, and Staromiejski Dom Kultury)
Piotr Janicki for the book Psia książka (wydawnictwo j)
Marzanna Bogumiła Kielar for the book Nawigacje (Wydawnictwo Znak)
Robert Król for the book Polka (Mikrooficyna Ówże)
Marta Podgórnik for the book Mordercze ballady (Biuro Literackie).

In 2019, the Award Committee – Andrei Khadanovich (Belarus), Xavier Farré (Spain), Wojciech Ligęza (Poland), Antonia Lloyd-Jones (United Kingdom), Karol Maliszewski (Poland), Alina Świeściak (Poland), and Dorota Walczak-Delanois (Poland and Belgium) – decided to grant the Award to Marta Podgórnik for her book of poems Mordercze ballady (Biuro Literackie 2018).
The winner received a cash prize of zł100,000 and a new statuette, inspired by a collage by Wisława Szymborska.
