The competition is organized by the Wisława Szymborska Foundation.

The Wisława Szymborska Award is an international prize given annually for the best book of poetry published in the Polish language the preceding year. Volumes of poetry published originally in Polish as well as translations can be entered in the competition.

Candidates for the Award may be proposed by publishing houses, cultural institutions, literary journals and websites, members of the Award Committee, and other persons.

Competition stages
Submissions must be sent to the address of the Foundation by 15 January.
The Award Presentation Gala is held in June in Krakow.

The prizes
The Award comprises a statuette and zł100,000 for the author of a volume of poetry written originally in Polish. Another prize of zł100,000 is divided between the author of the winning book of poetry written in a foreign language and its Polish translator or translators.
