Having considered all the applications for financial aid, the Board of the Wisława Szymborska Foundation have granted allowances to 41 individuals. A special round of aid granting called ‘For All Eventualities. Wisława Szymborska Foundation for Men and Women of Letters’ has been held in response to the difficult situation caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. The financial aid will be forwarded to authors and translators who have lost their sources of income.
At the same time the Foundation has suspended the granting of this year’s Wisława Szymborska Award.
‘We ask for understanding for this decision, especially of the poets and publishers who have submitted books of poetry for this year’s Wisława Szymborska Award. We would like to assure everyone that the accepted books will be automatically carried forward into next year’s Award competition,’ says Michał Rusinek, President of the Wisława Szymborska Foundation.
Creating the Aid Fund was possible owing to support from the Foundation’s partners and sponsors, whom we would like to thank for the assistance they have extended to the literary community. These are: BNP Paribas, Sobiesław Zasada Automotive, Browar Tenczynek, Book Targ, Allegro, Lubimyczytać.pl and Legimi.
